This Lent I’m looking for a change no longer giving up
but taking on instead the task of noticing whatever has been there unseen from the beginning perceiving all those mysteries monsters too and even the odd miracle which until now escaped my eye caught up in catching up who knows what may be glimpsed between the lenten rose and Easter’s banks of lilies perhaps even the footprints of the gardener himself whose waking walking word to us spells seeing is believing.

Charlotte, NC 28211 You could have taken the cover picture this morning in Charlotte, NC as at least 4 of us "Presbyterian Women" rushed from our first Lenten Breakfast (Sardis Presbyterian Church) to haul on our swim suits and "haul into " the Jewish Community Center Water Aerobics Class with our very "senior sized" bodies! Most of us will receive the ashes of the Cross tonight at our Ash Wednesday Service, but the picture of the dear sister is just priceless. The "sign of the Cross" on her forehead is much more than spiritual in significance for me; at 66 years, I can remember when Aiken Taylor stirred up all sorts of controversy about us girls, dancing in rhythmic worship (in long skirts and leotards.) Guess this wonderful cover girl 'bout says it all: "Get over it! I am a Child of God, and my 60'ish Body IS a Temple of God!" Thanks for a departure from the ordinary. The istockphoto is Extraordinary! Lyn |
