The final pieces of the 150-page report of the Middle East Study Group to the General Assembly have now been released – including the group’s 30 recommendations.
The General Assembly in 2008 created the study group and instructed its nine members to report back to the 219th General Assembly in 2010, telling it “to prepare a comprehensive study, with recommendations, that is focused on Israel/Palestine within the complex context of the Middle East.”

Other material the study group has released includes:

-         A series of personal vignettes written by some members of the study group, with the title “Our Witness: What We Have Seen and Heard.”

-         An historical analysis —part of the study materials to accompany the report), written by committee members Nahida H. Gordon and Frederic W. Bush, both professors.

-         A personal narrative also part of the study materials) with the title “Notes from a Humanistic, Liberal Zionist,” written by Ron Cornish, a rabbi and educator from West Jerusalem.

All parts of the committee’s report, plus background information on its work, are now available on the PC(USA)’s Web site.

Those wishing to comment on the study groups’ report or recommendation can send e-mails to (middleeastpeace@pcusa.org) or call 888-728-7228, ext. 8202.
